Presentation
Clip in at the door of Chalet Pégase and you are straight onto the piste, a rarity in Val Thorens. Spread over the first and second floors of a building beside the new Sports Centre, this self-catered home sleeps 12 in six bedrooms. A sauna on the ground floor is shared with its neighbour in the building, Chalet Véga. This is a fine choice for a large party of friends or several families who enjoy cooking together.
Upstairs, the south-facing living room sits under a vaulted ceiling, with picture windows onto the balcony and views of the Massif de Péclet, Cime Caron and Pointe de la Masse. A log fire burns in a stone surround beside the sofa and TV. The fully equipped kitchen and two dining tables share the same open space.
Three bedrooms are on this upper floor and three below, each with its own shower room and WC. One can be made up as a double, and the rest are twins. Two pairs of bedrooms share outdoor space, one a terrace on the lower floor and the other a balcony upstairs.
Skis and boots go in a room by the main entrance, again shared with Chalet Véga.
You arrive to made-up beds. Towels, toiletries, bathrobes and slippers are all supplied, plus Wi-Fi and a mid-stay clean. From the door you can reach the gondolas and chairlifts for the glacier, or ski on down to Les Menuires.
A log fire, the sauna and the slopes on the doorstep make Chalet Pégase a superb self-catered find in Val Thorens. A dozen friends or a big family get-together will make the most of it, heading out into the 600 km Three Valleys every morning.
