Presentation
Chalet Ontario has a hot tub to call its own, set on the terrace. Inside, this catered Val d'Isère home pairs elegant contemporary style with a cosy alpine feel. Sleeping eight in four bedrooms, it works well for a large family or a crowd of friends.
The first floor is where everyone gathers, in one warm, open-plan lounge and dining room centred on a fire. A balcony leads off it, shared with Chalet Quebec next door, and steps run down from there to the hot tub.
The ground floor holds three of the bedrooms, a double and two twins, each with a TV, its own shower room and doors onto the terrace. The last twin is on the first floor, with an en-suite bath and a separate shower. Wherever you sleep, there are USB charging points and a room safe.
The hosts have Wednesday off, leaving that evening free to try a restaurant in the resort, and cook for you on the other six days. Each dinner starts with an apéritif and canapés, then three courses with complimentary wine. You can choose a cooked or continental breakfast, and freshly baked cakes come out at afternoon tea.
Everyone in the building shares the entrance lounge and the ski locker room, where skis and boots are kept. You walk in to beds already made, and bathrobes, slippers, towels and toiletries all come with the stay. There is free Wi-Fi, and the chalet gets a clean midway through the week.
At Chalet Ontario in Val d'Isère, time in the hot tub leads on to a hosted dinner beside the fire. A house party of eight friends or the whole extended family will feel right at home here, skiing the 300 km Tignes-Val d'Isère Ski Area.
