Chalet Yukon's balcony faces the Solaise mountain and its famous bumps run. Traditional charm and a contemporary twist come together in this catered Val d'Isère apartment, laid out on a single floor. Its three bedrooms sleep six, a comfortable arrangement for a family or a group of friends.
The kitchen, dining area and lounge share one spacious room, with the balcony running along its length. A log fire is set into a stone fireplace, and a corner sofa is drawn up close by. Pendant lights hang over a table for six, while stools line a breakfast bar at the cooking end.
Each bedroom is a twin with wood-clad walls and an en-suite bathroom. The smaller twin and one other have shower rooms, while the third has a bath with a separate shower alongside. Wardrobes have interior lighting and a safe, and every room has a TV plus USB charging points. A guest WC sits by the kitchen.
Six days a week, the hosts do the cooking. On Wednesday, their day off, Val d'Isère's lively après-ski scene can fill the evening. Other nights begin with canapés and an apéritif, followed by three courses with complimentary wine. When you come in from skiing, afternoon tea brings freshly baked cakes. Breakfast is a choice of cooked or continental.
The building's communal ski locker room has space for skis and boots. Toiletries and towels are laid on, and the beds are made up before you get there. Wi-Fi comes as standard, and the apartment has a clean halfway through your stay.
Dinners prepared by your hosts and nights by the log fire give Chalet Yukon a homely warmth in Val d'Isère. Six skiing friends, or parents travelling with their children, are in for a cheerful stay, with 300 km of runs in the Tignes-Val d'Isère Ski Area to explore.
