Chalet Alberta is a catered, alpine-style apartment in Val d'Isère with four bedrooms, every one of them en-suite. Laid out on a single floor, it sleeps eight, suiting a big group of friends or a large family party. With hosts cooking for six nights of the stay, the evenings are free for swapping stories by the fire.
The open-plan living room is spacious and stylish, with sofas, a modern fireplace and a dining table that seats all eight. The kitchen shares the same room, so the group stays together while dinner is prepared.
Three of the bedrooms are twins and the fourth has bunk beds, good for children or friends sharing. One twin has an en-suite bath and a skylight in place of a window, and the other two have shower rooms. A shower room serves the bunks too, with the WC kept separate, giving four bathrooms altogether. Every bedroom has a wardrobe with interior lighting and a safe, plus USB points for charging phones overnight.
Afternoon tea is ready for your return from the slopes, and dinner is three courses with wine, after an apéritif and canapés. Breakfast is cooked or continental. Wednesday is the hosts' day off, a good excuse to book a table in one of Val d'Isère's restaurants.
Skis and boots go in the building's shared ski locker room. Beds are made up for your arrival, towels and toiletries are provided, and a mid-stay clean is included. Wi-Fi is free, and past guests have singled it out for praise.
