Chalet Lake Lodge in Tignes le Lac keeps a hot tub and a cosmic sauna on a terrace overlooking the lake and mountains. Furnished to a very high standard with modern alpine charm, the catered home sleeps 14 in six bedrooms. A large party of friends or multiple families will find room to spare.
One open-plan space on the lower ground floor brings together the living area, dining table and kitchen. Timber walls and deep sofas set a relaxed tone, and windows look out onto the terrace.
Five of the bedrooms are twins, each with its own bathroom that has a bath and handheld shower. Three sit on the ground floor, while on the floor below one twin opens onto a private terrace. The sixth is a quad with a pair of single beds and bunks in a partly separated sleeping area, plus outdoor space of its own. Its en-suite has a WC and basin only.
Each morning there is a choice of cooked or continental breakfast, with freshly baked cakes to follow at afternoon tea. Three-course dinners come with complimentary wine, each one preceded by an apéritif and canapés. A colonnade of restaurants, cafés and shops lies a few minutes' walk away in Tignes le Lac. That makes Wednesday, the hosts' day off, a good night to eat out.
Bathrobes and slippers are supplied for the hot tub and cosmic sauna. Before you arrive, the beds are made up and the bathrooms stocked with towels and toiletries. A clean in the middle of the week and Wi-Fi are both included. The Tovière gondola and Palafour chairlift are just three minutes away on foot, and the free resort bus to Tignes Val Claret stops close by.
