From its balconies, Chalet Kitz takes in the Palafour ski area and the mountains around it. Inside this catered Tignes Lavachet house, smart modern style meets a cosy, traditional feel. Four bedrooms sleep eight, a good fit for a larger family or a party of friends. A two-minute walk down the road brings you to the Chaudanne and Paquis chairlifts.
The chalet rises over four storeys, and both living levels open onto a large balcony. The lounge, with leather sofas, a TV and a timber-beamed ceiling, is a comfortable place to gather before or after dinner. One floor up, the kitchen shares an open-plan room with a long dining table that seats all eight.
Two first-floor bedrooms can each be set up as a twin or a double, and both open onto a shared balcony. One has an en-suite shower room, while its neighbour's private bathroom, with shower and WC, is along the corridor. On the lounge level is a pair of adjacent twins, one with outside space of its own and one cosy beneath a sloping ceiling. Their bathroom has a bath and a double basin, with a separate WC alongside.
Mornings start with a cooked or continental breakfast, and there are freshly baked cakes at afternoon tea. An apéritif and canapés come first at dinner, then three courses served with complimentary wine. On Wednesday, the hosts' day off, you can eat out at one of the restaurants a short walk away in Tignes Lavachet.
You'll find the beds made and towels and toiletries waiting when you arrive. Wi-Fi is included, and the chalet is cleaned mid-week and once more when you leave. Heading home, you can ski back to within 200 metres of the front door.
