Step out of Chalet Isabelle and you can ski down to the Chaudanne and Paquis chairlifts in seconds. The return run brings you back to within 30 metres. Set in Tignes Lavachet, the catered house had a full interior refurbishment in summer 2023. Its five bedrooms, all twins, sleep ten, a natural fit for a larger group of friends or a couple of families. A private wellness room has a hot tub for soaking tired legs after a day on the slopes.
Everyday living happens on the upper floor, under a vaulted timber ceiling. Kitchen, dining table and two lounge areas share the space. The cosier of the two is a snug, with a modern inset fire beside a sofa, a TV and a blue feature wall. Tall windows lead out to a long balcony that overlooks the mountains.
Sleeping is split over two levels: three bedrooms at ground level, two of them timber-clad and opening onto balconies, and a further two on the lower floor. All five come with an en-suite shower room. A WC on the living floor saves trips down the stairs.
Breakfast is cooked or continental. Afternoon tea with freshly baked cakes is ready once you are back from skiing. Your hosts serve canapés and an apéritif ahead of a three-course dinner with complimentary wine. For Wednesday, their day off, a choice of restaurants lies a short walk away in Tignes Lavachet.
Arrive to made-up beds, towels and toiletries, along with bathrobes and slippers. Wi-Fi is included, as is a mid-stay clean. For trips elsewhere in Tignes, catch the free resort bus from the stop outside.
Chalet Isabelle stands right beside its sister, Chalet Camille, pairing a ski-out spot in Tignes with a hot tub to come back to. An extended family or a party of ten friends could hardly be better placed for a week in the vast Tignes-Val d'Isère Ski Area.
