Built for big groups, Chalet Alber in St Anton am Arlberg sleeps up to 38 guests in 15 bedrooms, all of them en-suite. Four chalet hosts look after the cooking and the running of the house, leaving everyone free to enjoy the mountains. In good snow you can ski back almost to the door at the end of the day. Clubs, companies and extended families who want to holiday under one roof will find it a natural fit.
The shared spaces are set up for a crowd. A spacious dining area seats the whole party at once. For the evenings, a separate living room with a TV corner gives everyone somewhere to settle. The shops, restaurants and lively après-ski of the village are all within walking distance.
Each morning begins with a breakfast buffet, and the hosts serve a three-course dinner on six evenings of the week. Beer, wine, soft drinks, coffee and tea are included, so the group can linger over a drink after the meal. The free night is a good excuse to try one of St Anton's restaurants.
Spread over four floors are eight doubles, six triples and a quadruple, so couples, families with children and friends sharing can all be housed comfortably. Ten of the bedrooms open onto a balcony, a pleasant spot to take in the mountain air.
