Presentation
In one of the sunniest spots in Morzine, The Bungo is a catered chalet built around its garden, with a heated outdoor swimming pool, a hot tub and a play area. Six bedrooms sleep 14, and a sofa bed in the cinema room takes two more, enough for an extended family or a big gang of friends. In winter, the chalet's driver is on call around the clock. A call or WhatsApp brings a private minibus, aiming to arrive within 20 minutes, and journeys can be booked ahead. It takes skiers to the lifts of Morzine and Les Gets, or out to Ardent and Prodains for Avoriaz. After dinner, it collects the group from bars and restaurants. A free bus into Morzine also stops at the end of the drive.
Interiors by Ali Hearn Studios set the tone. The modern kitchen leads to an open-plan dining area that seats 14, and the lounge has curved sofas facing a feature fireplace. Both open onto a deck with a sunken fire pit and a big dining terrace. Next to it, an outdoor kitchen has a barbecue, pizza oven and shaded bar.
The garden is a playground in itself, with a sunken trampoline, a climbing wall and a swing set with a slide. One end of the seven-metre pool sits flush with the lawn, and decking leads down to a patio with the hot tub.
From there, bi-fold doors open into the lower level, an entertaining space with a bar, banquette seating, wine racks, an ice machine and a beer pump. The adjoining cinema room has a projector screen, with glass doors and curtains to shut out the bar during a film.
Four bedrooms are upstairs and two on the lower level, and every double can be set up as twins. Two upper rooms look out to Mont Chéry, and one adds two raised bunks above its double. Four bedrooms are en-suite, two with a bath and two with a shower, while the other two share a family bathroom.
Winter stays are fully catered by the chalet's chef and hosts. Breakfast and afternoon tea are served every day, with canapés and a four-course dinner on five nights. Champagne, wine, spirits, beers and soft drinks are included, and housekeeping is daily. On the chef's nights off, the driver can drop everyone at a Morzine restaurant. A private gym, a laundry room and a ping-pong table add to the stay. Heated warmers in the boot room look after ski boots, and there is parking for four cars, an electric car charger and a garage. The Bungo is pet-friendly.
A heated pool, a hot tub and a garden full of games make The Bungo a joyful catered chalet in sunny Morzine. A large group of family and friends can ski the 650 km Portes du Soleil and come home to a chef in the kitchen.
