Presentation
Chalet Loden wraps its L-shaped sitting room around an impressive log fire, and huge balcony doors open onto views of the forest and pistes. This catered chalet sits in a tranquil, sunny spot within walking distance of the centre of Méribel. The blue Doron run, about 100 metres away, carries you down to La Chaudanne, the resort's main lift hub, with links towards Courchevel, Les Menuires and Val Thorens. With room for 12 in six bedrooms, it suits a big family or a sizeable group of friends.
The sitting room has masses of space to spread out, and on fine days the large terrace is the place to be. Come evening, diners look out over the twinkling resort lights and the floodlit Roc de Fer piste, with elbow room to spare around the table.
Generous bedrooms come with comfortable beds and good-quality bedding. On the second floor, a double has an en-suite bathroom, while a second double and a twin share a bathroom, with a separate WC alongside. Up on the third floor are three twins with two bathrooms between them, bringing the total to four, plus a WC by the entrance.
Your chalet hosts cook dinner on five nights, pouring house wine, and set up a raclette on a sixth. Every day brings breakfast and afternoon tea, and one night is left free for Méribel's restaurants. Housekeeping comes on five mornings, with beds made up before arrival.
Down at the entrance, a ski room has a warmer to dry boots overnight, and there's table tennis for some friendly competition. Wi-Fi, a Bluetooth speaker, towels, hairdryers and lift pass delivery are all included. Access is up a winding path and a short, steep driveway, so the chalet is unsuitable for guests with reduced mobility.
As one of Méribel's original chalets, with the lights of the Roc de Fer piste in view over dinner, Chalet Loden has character to spare. A dozen friends or a family with older children will relish a week here, with the huge Three Valleys on hand to explore.
