Presentation
With a covered hot tub on its balcony overlooking the valley, Chalet Ammonite is a fantastic catered base for a ski holiday in La Plagne 1800. This traditional chalet in a quiet location hosts up to 15 guests in eight bedrooms. A crowd of friends or a large family gathering can take it exclusively, while smaller parties can book by the room.
The entrance floor is one open-plan space, with the lounge, dining area and kitchen flowing together. Alpine character meets modern comfort with sofas gathered round a log fire for relaxing evenings in. The balcony opens off the living area and is a great spot for a drink or breath of fresh air.
You can expect welcome drinks on arrival, and tea and coffee are on hand all week, with the hosts handling all the cooking. Breakfast is served daily, with a hot special on five mornings. Each afternoon a freshly baked cake waits for you after skiing. On five evenings dinner is three courses with free-flowing wine or beer, plus the option of a cheese board. On the hosts' two nights off, breakfast and cake are left out and they will book you a restaurant in the resort. Children's high tea can be arranged, and dietary requirements are catered for.
Four twin rooms fill the lower ground floor, while the first floor has three more twins and a single. All eight rooms have en-suite bathrooms.
Skis are stored by the entrance, beside a boot warmer that ensures your boots are ready to hit the slopes when you are. The centre of La Plagne 1800 is around 200 metres away and the slopes about 500 metres. But the free resort bus stops just 20 metres from the door and takes you to the ski lifts, or on to Plagne Centre or Plagne Bellecôte if you prefer. Several sister chalets line the same quiet track, useful when a bigger party wants to stay close together. On request there is a highchair and travel cot, and a complimentary transfer from Geneva airport is offered, subject to terms.
