Presentation
A crackling log fire and a sunny terrace set the tone at Chalet Matisse Bas, a catered home overlooking Courchevel La Tania. The slopes are just 200 metres from the door, and the ski school meeting point and village shops are only a few minutes' walk. Sleeping eight in four bedrooms, it is a fine fit for a big family or a lively group who enjoy being looked after.
Comfortable sofas and large windows give the sitting and dining room an open, sociable feel, with the terrace just beyond. In the evenings, it's a real treat to put your feet up by the fire before dinner is served. Satellite TV, a wireless speaker and a stack of board games fill the hours once the table is cleared.
On the living level, a double that converts to a twin has an en-suite shower room with a basin. There's a separate WC on the same floor. Upstairs are three twin bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. That makes four bathrooms in total, so everyone has space to get ready in private.
Mornings begin with breakfast at the chalet, and afternoon tea is laid out for your return from the slopes. Dinner-party style meals with house wine follow on five evenings, with a traditional raclette on a sixth, leaving one night free for a restaurant in the village. Cleaning is included on five mornings.
Shared with Chalet Matisse Haut, the ski room by the entrance has a warmer for drying boots overnight. There's a space for your car right outside, with a large free car park in the village too. Wi-Fi, towels, hairdryers and lift pass delivery are included, with a cot and highchair on request. Larger parties of up to 16 can book both chalets together, giving eight bedrooms in all.
